Vacuum Filter Units

Vacuum Filter Units

Overview

Cobetter disposable vacuum filter units (or bottle top vacuum filters) are used for filtration of biological samples, cell culture, tissue culture media, buffer and other aqueous solutions. They are vacuum-driven pressure filters and are designed for large volume sample filtration with different sizes including 150mL, 250mL, 500mL and 1000mL. The filter unit consists of a polystyrene bottle-top filter funnel joined by a HDPE adapter, a polystyrene lid, a polystyrene receiver bottle and a separate HDPE cap.

Applications by Membranes

  • Asymmetric PES (Polyethersulfone) membranes provides high flow rates and low protein binding, which are recommended for filtering culture media
  • Hydrophilic PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) membranes features very low protein binding and low extractable, which are ideal for filtration of protein-rich solutions

Applications by Pore Size

  • 0.1 µm for mycoplasma removal.
  • 0.2 µm for the sterile filtration of cell culture, media, buffers, and reagents.
  • 0.45 µm for the clarification of aqueous and viscous solutions.

Features

  • Pre-sterilized and ready to use bottle top vacuum filters.
  • Disposable units with integrated membrane and funnel.
  • Ideal for 100ml to 1L volume sterile filtration.
  • Compatible with vacuum pumps or aspirators.
  • High flow rate and low protein binding.

How to Use a Disposable Vacuum Filter Unit?

1. Setup:

  • Attach the vacuum filter outlet to a vacuum pump via tubing.
  • Place a sterile collection flask underneath.

2. Filtration:

  • Pour the sample into the filter funnel.
  • Vacuum pressure pulls liquid through the membrane, retaining contaminants.

3. Disposal:

Discard the entire vacuum filter unit after use to prevent cross-contamination.
