Viruclear™ RC virus filter features excellent hydrophilicity and low adsorption properties. The RC membrane has a nominal retention pore size of 20 nm and effectively removes a wide range of viral particles, including parvoviruses—the smallest naturally occurring viruses currently known—based on a size-exclusion mechanism.

The Viruclear™ RC series will serve as another solution to address the underperforming projects of the Viruclear™ VF plus series. It is particularly suitable for biological products from human plasma, providing customers with a more comprehensive virus filtration solution.

The Viruclear™ RC series is available in silicone-encapsulated cassette formats containing storage solution, as well as rigid cassette formats packaged in purified water.

All Viruclear™ RC silicone cassettes are provided in a non-integrated format, while the rigid cassettes are available in both non-integrated and integrated configurations. The integrated version features a single-use flow distribution plate design that eliminates the need for a holder and can be used directly after tubing installation.

What materials are available for Cobetter virus removal filters?

Currently Cobetter virus removal filters are available in two membrane materials: PES (polyethersulfone) and RC (regenerated cellulose).

How should the membrane material of virus removal filters be selected for antibodies and recombinant proteins?

For most antibodies and recombinant proteins, PES membranes are the preferred choice. However, when protein concentrations are high, purity is low, or protein stability is poor, RC (regenerated cellulose) membranes should be considered.

What is the preferred virus removal filter membrane for blood products?

RC (regenerated cellulose) membrane is the preferred choice for blood products. However, for factor products with relatively low molecular weight and low concentration, PES membranes may also be considered.

What formats and sizes are available for Cobetter PES and RC virus removal filters?

Cobetter PES and RC virus removal filters are available in multiple formats and sizes. Both PES and RC membranes are offered as small-scale syringe filters for filterability studies and virus clearance (VC) validation.

The PES series is available in plastic-housed formats, with membrane areas ranging from 0.017 m² to 1.5 m².
The RC series is provided in flat-sheet cassette formats, with membrane areas ranging from 0.015 m² to 1.5 m².

What materials are available for Cobetter virus removal prefiltration products?

Cobetter virus prefiltration products are available in the following membrane materials:
Nylon (PNY)
Polyethersulfone (PCE)
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF, SMDA)
Composite materials (PDT)
Synthetic materials (PDS)

Are Cobetter virus removal filter available in sterile packaging?

PES virus removal filters are supplied in non-sterile packaging, while RC virus removal filters can be provided in sterile packaging.

What are the advantages and benefits of Cobetter virus filters?

1. High throughput, high loading capacity, and strong fouling resistance.
2. Robust viral clearance performance.
3. 100% integrity-tested before release, with scientifically supported integrity testing protocols provided to customers.
4. Comprehensive range of sizes and flexible installation for ease of use.
